Assesment[edit]
I found this rated 'Start', but there can't be much more to say. I was torn between rating it B or C, but my unfamiliarity with the technical side, and hence the suitability of the references, made me uncharacteristically on the cautious side. I do know it to be a wonderful bit of music.

Saxophones[edit]
Lincolnshire Posy has 6 saxophone parts written (soprano, alto subtituting soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and and bass ad lib.). Grainger asks that the soprano be preferred if possible. However the soprano part is quite low so it is often played with the alto saxophone (info from the 1940 edition). Fennell arrangement removes the ad lib. and substitution and asks for six saxophones, the previous subtitution written as separate alto 1 (read from the score, I don’t have access to the parts). Maybe the instrumentation should thus be: 5 saxophones (soprano (or alto), alto, tenor, baritone and and bass ad lib.)?

- @Aven13: this has sat here for about a month now and so I am marking it declined. I lack the ability to know what you want. Perhaps Noahfgodard can still help? Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:02, 29 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Aven13:@Barkeep49: Sorry for the delay. I put in an excerpt of the free time at the beginning of the movement. Noahfgodard (talk) 23:37, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

It is very unlikely that this work is public domain in the EU, or in any country where the copyright term is life-plus-70 years. However, it is in the public domain in Canada (where IMSLP is hosted) and other countries where the term is life-plus-50 years (such as China, Japan, Korea and many others worldwide). As this work was first published before 1925 or failed to meet notice or renewal requirements to secure statutory copyright with no 'restoration' under the GATT amendments, it is very likely to be public domain in the USA as well. |
